Mobile App
The Taskott mobile app is a companion to the desktop experience. It's designed for quick capture and review on the go, not as a replacement for the desktop app.
Getting the app
Mobile features
The mobile app is intentionally lightweight. It focuses on four things:
Tasks
View and interact with your current sprint tasks:
- View current sprint — See all committed tasks and their status
- Complete tasks — Mark tasks as done from your phone
- Browse backlog — Look through tasks scheduled for future weeks
- Add new tasks — Quickly capture new tasks with goal, effort, and value
Quick Lists
Quick Lists are rapid-fire ephemeral lists for things that aren't tasks. Think of them as disposable checklists:
- Grocery shopping lists
- Packing lists for a trip
- Brainstorm dumps
- Meeting action items before they become real tasks
Quick Lists can optionally be linked to a task. When the linked task is completed, the quick list auto-archives. Each list item can be checked off independently.
Notes
The Notes screen is a plain text scratch pad that syncs to your desktop. Use it to capture:
- Ideas that come to you away from your desk
- Observations or reflections during the day
- Quick reminders to process later
Notes show up during Dailies on the desktop app. The idea is: capture on mobile, process on desktop. This keeps your phone as a lightweight input device, not a productivity sink.
Trips
A read-only 12-month timeline of your upcoming trips. The mobile trips screen provides:
- Timeline view of all trips, holidays, and travel events
- Trip detail sheets with overview, checklist, bookings, and links
- Real-time sync with Firestore — changes made on desktop appear instantly
Sync
The mobile app uses Firebase/Firestore for real-time cloud sync. Changes made on either platform appear on the other within seconds.
To enable sync:
- Create a Taskott account on the desktop app
- Sign in with the same account on mobile
- Data syncs automatically — no manual action needed
Design philosophy
The mobile app is deliberately not a full-featured task manager. Deep work happens on desktop. The mobile app exists for three reasons:
- Capture — Grab tasks and notes before you forget them
- Reference — Check your sprint or trip details on the go
- Quick completion — Mark a task done without opening your laptop
Execution mode, sprint planning, stats, and settings are desktop-only features.
